How to Configure a Netgear Wireless Router
I would like to show you how to configure a NETGEAR wireless
router and connect it to the Internet.
For this we are going to need a PC Connect it to the router .
Wire the Ethernet cable and we are going to make a conflagration by using a simple web browser. Some NETGEAR and other routers
come with an CD for configuration, but most people prefer using the web browser for router configuration.
To configure in the web browser, Go to address bar and type the IP
address, which is given in the manual.
Now you can see the dialog box, type the user ID as admin,
password as password. It is better to change the password of your router after
logging in.
In the setup wizard Now select option. No, I want to configure the router myself say Next.
Leave the first two fields
Give the username and password, which is given by your ISP
If your IP address is fixed . Give the IP address in static
IP address field
If not select the option get dynamically from ISP
If you chose get
dynamically from ISP select get
automatically from ISP
Simply click apply to save the settings
And now we move on to the next phase of the configuration.
Which in this case is going to be a wireless
settings
Change the SSID name field NETGEAR to anything you easily remember. And the important part is
to get correct region. Because it changes the power output
Set the channel number default as 11
You can change the mode in which router operates in this
case select Auto 100 Mbps
check the fields
Enable wireless
access point
Allow broadcast of
name (ssid)
The important thing is to put security, so other people can't
use your broadband.
For this:
In the security options
field
Select WPA-PSK option
Give some password in WPA-PSK
security encryption and click Apply.
Now we are ready to go!
